This trendy garden chair is my top pick from Dunelm sale![]() Dunelm’s up to 50% off sale has been in full swing for a few weeks now, and even though I’ve already noticed some of my top picks from the sale selling out, there is one garden item that has caught my attention due to the lucrative savings. Egg chairs have become increasingly trendy, with everywhere from George at Asda to John Lewis, selling their own takes on the garden furniture must-have. While browsing the home and garden sale, a colourful chair caught my eye. Not only because of its aquamarine hue and high customer satisfaction rating, but also because of its huge discount. The chair is exactly half price, reduced from £249 to £124.50. The Santorini egg chair, as Dunelm has dubbed it, has already been popular, garnering plenty of reviews and a positive rating of 4.2 stars. You can browse Dunelm’s entire summer sale here. Or keep scrolling to learn more about the Santorini egg chair, plus some additional picks from the sale. Egg chairs, as you can imagine, get their names from their curved shape. They provide a cocoon-like shape in which you can sit, and while many are often hanging chairs (which act something like a gentle swing), some are also on legs. The Santorini chair is of the hanging variety, supported by a metal frame (though this one is in a bright turquoise shade to ensure it doesn’t ruin the overall aesthetic of the chair). The chair itself is made from turquoise and white rattan, a material that has become increasingly popular over the last few years for both interior and exterior furnishings, both for its chic appearance and durability. To me, the rattan material means this chair wouldn't look out of place around a hotel swimming pool. But, considering the British weather isn't always guaranteed to be like a sun-soaked holiday, Dunelm claims that it the chair is designed to be "weather-resistant" (for when those sudden downpours arrive). If the turquoise colour isn't ideal for your garden, the chair also comes in blue, burnt orange and, for those who are a little jazzier, a multicoloured option. The appearance of the chair is arguably one of its main draws, with one shopper saying: "Bought the multi coloured one – looks fantastic!" It also comes with a comfy cushion which is designed to fit perfectly onto the seat. "The most comfortable egg chair," said one customer. "Yes, it's more expensive than others but the quality is much better. You get what you pay for." While they noted it was expensive at full price, the current 50% discount is an instant bonus. Perhaps the main gripe of the chair from previous customers is the assembly. The Santorini chair is delivered in parts, so you'll need to put it together yourself, and how easy this is varies based on reviews. One shopper said: "Once built, the chair looks great. The trouble is, you have to build it first, and that’s where it gets problematic. The nuts and bolts are of [such] poor quality they have cross thread[ed] or snap[ped]. I had to spend my own money in Wickes to get decent bolts. Secondly, the manufacturing quality is appalling. Trying to get some of the holes lined up is really hard work. The instructions are easy to follow, putting that into reality is the difficult part." [SIC] However, a separate shopper said: "Excellent Quality! Don't be in any doubt. I, for one, wouldn't accept anything less. This has got to be the best Garden. I'm in my 60s awaiting hip operation in a few weeks) and single-handedly put this together. The person who mentioned the screes s cross threaded, they are not, you have to use the spanner and alan key together in opposite rotation to firm/tighten screws. It works correctly, trust me. I bought TWO, so I'm going to make up my husband's one now so he too can relax after his day's work. This egg chair comes with excellent, well-written and descriptive instructions."
