Prince Harry 'in Meghan's shadow' and 'never at ease with attention' | Royal | News

Prince Harry is "entirely in the shadow" of Meghan Markle as she "steals the limelight", according to an expert.

The Sussexes recently embarked on a high-profile trip to Nigeria where Meghan in particular looked striking in an array of dazzling outfits and spoke publicly about discovering her Nigeria heritage.

It was the couple's first overseas tour since sensationally quitting as working royals and it led to speculation that Harry appeared pushed out and worried amid his wife's star performance, reports the Mirror.

But according to Royal expert Duncan Larcombe, Meghan stealing the show may well play into Harry's preference to being "second fiddle".

He explained to OK!: "Meghan is a very strong character, very driven, extremely ambitious, and those are the kind of characteristics that mean she will almost always inevitably outshine Harry and grab the attention from him.

"Harry is entirely in her shadow. But he's never really been at ease with the attention, he's never really enjoyed it. Whether it's deliberate or not, Meghan is definitely a magnet for attention.

"Although we saw a huge amount of money spent on her combined outfits for Nigeria so maybe it's not a complete accident that she steals the limelight. Their Nigeria trip was 'The Meghan Show' and Harry was the side."

Meanwhile, it has now been revealed that the Sussexes are already drawing up plans for more Royal-style tours - after the success of their Nigeria visit.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly overjoyed with the positive reception and media attention from their recent three-day visit, with plans afoot for a potential return to Africa as part of their upcoming international engagements.

After focusing on their life in Meghan's homeland, the US, where they are raising their two children, the couple is now looking to expand their global footprint.

An insider revealed to the Mirror: "The Duke and Duchess have other trips planned for the remainder of the year. They are hoping to be able to share more details in the coming weeks. It is definitely possible they could return to Africa for more tours after that."

During their trip to Nigeria, Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, advocated for mental health through their Archewell Foundation and promoted the Invictus Games, which saw Nigerian participation for the first time last year.

Their itinerary included meetings with military officials, wounded servicemen, and schoolchildren, all of whom extended an enthusiastic welcome to the Royal pair.

Meghan, who found out she is 43 percent Nigerian after a DNA test in 2022, was especially moved by the warm reception in Nigeria, referring to it affectionately as "my country".

Africa holds a special place in the hearts of the Royal couple. They embarked on a romantic getaway to Botswana for their third date back in 2016, a year before Harry popped the question with a diamond sourced from the same country.

The pair returned to celebrate Meghan's 36th birthday with an extended trip. Their first joint Royal tour was a 10-day journey across South Africa, Botswana, Angola and Malawi in 2019.
