Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has insisted he is fully focused on beating Man City tomorrow evening, in a match that could potentially hand Arsenal the initiative in the title race heading into the final game of the season.

Spurs face an extremely awkward test against City, with plenty of Tottenham fans wanting their own side to slip up to ensure arch-rivals Arsenal don't go on to win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 campaign.

The rhetoric in the build-up to the game is dominated by the above notion, but Postecoglou has dismissed that suggestion, insisting he wants to end the season on a real high with Champions League football still in their sights, even if it means Arsenal winning the league.

After being quizzed on the talk in his pre-match press conference, the Australian manager simply replied: "We've got a game, we want to win." It is sure to be a rather strange atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a match that may have nothing riding on it for the hosts if Aston Villa beat Liverpool tonight.

If Villa take all three points tonight at home, it ensures Tottenham will miss out on Champions league football next season with a fifth-placed finish very likely.

But regardless of that being the case, Postecoglou has insisted he can't "understand anyone wanting their own team to lose". He told the media: "If you're going by social media then 99% of them will [want Spurs to lose] but please don't tell me that's your world. If it is you need counselling.

"I understand rivalry but I'll never understand anyone wanting their own team to lose. People are allowed to feel way they do but I’ve been consistent and strong in my belief that it's important for this club to get to where we want to, not look for a silver bullet, it’s hard work, perseverance, quality not false dawns and know what real success looks like.

"Anything in between, bragging rights, are meaningless to me. We've got a game tomorrow, we want to win. You think the majority of our fans don’t want us to win? I don’t see it that way, I think the fans inside the stadium will create the same atmosphere they always do."

Tottenham head into the encounter after ending their recent four-game losing streak, coming from behind to narrowly beat Burnley on Saturday in a result that relegated Vincent Kompany's side from the top-flight.
