Newcastle v Everton, Forest v Fulham and more: clockwatch – live | Premier League

Key events

Goal! Nottingham Forest 3-0 Fulham (Gibbs-White, 45+3)

The star man gets a deserved goal, playing the ball in a one-two before bursting on, and taking his time to convert. What a fine goal, Danilo playing his part.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Isak, who is having a fine game, drops deep and then creates a chance for himself in turning and shooting, the ball deflected behind by Pickford.

Kick-off at the London Stadium

Away we go and you can follow the action here:

Forest 2-0 Fulham

Muniz at last gets a chance but can only head down a cross to be picked up. That was better from an improved Fulham.

Burnley 0-0 Wolves

Big miss for Joao Gomes for Wolves, a header he really might have done better with. Both those 7.45 kick-offs have been slow to get started.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

The best chance yet for Everton as Onana’s sharp pass allows Doucoure to turn and shoot. It’s well saved by Dubravka.

Forest 2-0 Fulham

Has the Forest fire abated? Yes, a little. Fulham’s changes have made something of an effect, and passing the ball a little better than before.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Isak tries to send Jacob Murphy away, but Pickford is aware to the danger. It’s Newcastle who continue to threaten, and Everton to look poor. Another Newcastle knock? It seems so, with Lewis Hall having taken a knock. He’s moving OK, a player in whom there is a doubt he can complete the 90.

Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves

A bit less availability of info from these games but with no shots in the first 20 minutes, not much is being missed.

Forest 2-0 Everton

Fulham are preparing to make changes. It seems Marco Silva has seen quite enough of his team. Cairney, Willian and Traore off, as Lukic, Iwobi and Wilson off, too. The former Derby player is booed off.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

That goal seems to have forced Everton back into their shell, and Newcastle have been passing the ball around nicely.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

It really is all Forest, as Gibbs-White – again – lays up a chance that Elanga hits wide. Forest could be four up here.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

It continues to be all Forest at the City Ground. This is the type of defiance their fans wanted to see from them after that points deduction.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham (Wood, 19)

Chris Wood barrels through, loses the ball, and then as it comes back to him, he notices the keeper off his line and shoots. Leno was nowhere. Wood is bang in form, what a talisman.

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham

Almost a repeat showing from Hudson-Odoi but instead this time his delay means the danger can be cleared away. Fulham have been far more open than Crystal Palace were at the weekend.

Goal! Newcastle 1-0 Everton (Isak, 15)

A third in a row for Isak, who scampers away from an ailing defence. He could have gone down after a couple of challenges but he scores. What a goal! Oh Everton.

Kick-off at the Vitality and Turf Moor

And away we go at the 7.45 kick-offs…

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

To be fair to Everton, they have been rather attacking at St James’, and are pressing at that rather weak Newcastle underbelly. They probably need a goal here.

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham

If Nottingham Forest pull themselves clear, then they can thank Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been inspirational of late.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham (Hudson-Odoi, 9)

Gibbs-White sends Hudson’-Odoi away down the left, he cuts in, delays and just when the chance looks gone, smashes in. A huge goal in the relegation battle.

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Beto wins a free-kick, with what seems a minimal touch on him. The ball’s whipped in for Tarkowski, and he can’t keep his header down. That’s a big miss.

Forest 0-0 Fulham

Some early involvement from Morgan Gibbs-White, with Callum Hudson-Odoi also on the scene. Looks like Forest are stepping it up from the start.

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

An early chase for Harvey Barnes and then the ball goes back in from Isak and Jordan Pickford is brave and makes a smothering stop. Great keeping, bad defending.

Kick-off at St James' and the City Ground

And away we go….

Shock news that Kalvin Phillips doesn’t start for the Hammers, but let’s hope he can find his way back soon. That wasn’t pleasant viewing on Saturday. Just one change for the Hammers, Alphonse Areola out and Lukasz Fabianski in.

Three Spurs changes: Radu Dragusin, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski all drop to the bench. The excellent Micky Van de Ven starts at centre back, the rather good Rodrigo Bentancur plays in midfielder and the speedy Brennan Johnson begins on the wing. That’s some pretty good squad depth.

The big news of the day, which has an effect on this season’s EFL and perhaps next season’s EPL. Contrast Leicester with Brighton, who delivered the following results, per PA Media:

A post-tax profit of £122.8million for the 2022-23 season, up from £24.1m in the previous financial year. Turnover for the period was the club’s highest, rising by 17.2 per cent to £204.5m, against £174.5m in the 2021-22 campaign. The figures include the fees received for Alexis Mac Allister, Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella, as well as compensation for former head coach Graham Potter’s move to Chelsea.

Leicester meanwhile…

For Fulham, Timothy Castagne and Willian in, Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete out. Rodrigo Muniz is present and correct.

For Newcastle, Harvey Barnes gets a start as Anthony Gordon is missing out with his suspension. Emil Krafth and Lewis Hall come into that embattled defence, with Elliot Anderson coming in.

Preamble

Here we go, here we go, this is it. Another round of matches to follow that you’ve just finished digesting. Plenty on the line, too, and with Tottenham v West Ham being catered for elsewhere – though with updates included here two games stand out especially. Newcastle attempt to follow up Saturday’s dramatic, if sapping defeat of West Ham, by playing Everton, who surely must be better than they were against Bournemouth, though anyone who’s seen them lately might dismiss that.

Nottingham Forest are out of the bottom four on goal difference, Chris Wood’s Uwe Seeler effort landing them a draw against Crystal Palace. Fulham, with Rodrigo Muniz looking like Brazil’s answer to “Dead Shot” Keen, could be troublesome for Nuno’s boys. Elsewhere, Palace themselves travel to Bournemouth and though both teams look safe, Oliver Glasner’s team has the greater need of a result. He was happy enough on Saturday with a draw at Forest. And, after a rousing comeback at Chelsea, can Burnley perform more heroics against Wolves; Craig Bellamy will be overseeing matters with Big Vin sat in the stands. That’s a lot of red-hot soccer for a Tuesday, so let’s try and keep you across it.

There’s staggered kick-offs, too:

  • Newcastle v Fulham, 7.30pm

  • Nottingham Forest v Fulham, 7.30pm

  • Bournemouth v Crystal Palace, 7.45pm

  • Burnley v Wolves, 7.45pm

  • West Ham v Tottenham, 8.15pm
