Fish, especially cod, is a go-to food in the UK, and there is a way to bake it that makes it taste delicious. White fish, such as cod, is a popular choice because it is diverse. You can season and baste it in many things, making it as spicy or as flavourful as you want. While it is already a flavourful fish, it is made even better when we add certain herbs and spices. One expert has shared her recipe for the best oven-baked cod that is ready in just 15 minutes.
Chef Rasa Malaysia shared her top recipe for the best baked cod, and there is one ingredient you should add to it for extra flavour. She describes it as "one of the best oven-baked cod recipes you’ll find", explaining that it takes only five minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to bake in the oven. She reveals that the result, using just a few ingredients, is "moist, juicy and tender" cod every time. She only adds four things to it for the best end results. The ingredient that gives this fish an extra "kick" is cayenne pepper.
To make her delicious baked cod, she uses:
There are also optional additions, including capers, olives, garlic and cherry tomatoes.
Cod is one of the easiest things to bake. You simply put it into the oven and leave it for 12 minutes to do its thing. When it comes to Rasa's recipe, you will first preheat your oven to 205C.
Then, place the fish in a baking tray and drizzle over the olive oil before squeezing a bit of lemon juice over the top, then sprinkle on some salt and a touch of cayenne pepper. Then, place the cod into the oven and cook it for between 10 and 12 minutes, depending on how thick the fillets are.
Once it is done, all that is left to do is sprinkle parsley over the top before serving it. To make this fish, Rasa recommends that you use a glass cooking dish because this "retains heat better and helps food cook evenly".
