Bryan Mbeumo 'chooses next club' as Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle learn transfer decision | Football | Sport![]() Bryan Mbeumo has decided to snub Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a summer transfer to Manchester United, according to reports. The Red Devils appear in the driver's seat to seal their second marquee attacking signing of the summer after fending off Premier League competition for the Brentford forward. According to The Athletic, Mbeumo wants to move to Old Trafford, and United are set to open talks with Brentford over a transfer fee. The Bees reportedly want at least £50million to part ways with their star player, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium. The report adds that Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were among the rival clubs circling Mbeumo ahead of his expected summer exit. However, the Cameroon international has chosen United as his next club, and it is now up to the deal-brokers to seal the exciting switch. Mbeumo has flourished into one of the Premier League's most lethal forwards since joining Brentford from Troyes in 2019. This season just gone was his best yet, plundering 20 goals and providing a further eight assists across a stellar league campaign. Mbeumo has notched up 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances for the Bees, playing a central role in their magical rise under Thomas Frank. In his second season, the 25-year-old helped Brentford seal promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. Since arriving in the English top flight, Mbeumo managed eight, nine and nine goals in three Premier League seasons before his personal-best 2024/25 campaign. He is the international team-mate of Andre Onana, accumulating 18 caps for Cameroon and scoring four goals. Mbeumo represents a promising fit in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system, given his ability to thrive as the right-sided attacking midfielder or the central striker. Amorim has already bolstered his toothless attack with the capture of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who is also a perfect fit for his demands. United also reportedly want a striker to complete a new-look front three but missed out on top target Liam Delap, who is joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town. The Red Devils may have turned their attention towards striking a deal for Mbeumo after Delap informed them of his decision. Work will now continue to reach an agreement with Brentford and mark a sensational start to a crucial summer transfer window at Old Trafford. Any further incomings would rely on player sales, with several expected across the coming months. Source link Posted: 2025-06-02 21:15:41 |
