Moss will vanish from your lawn if you use these 2 household items in your garden![]() If you’ve been battling stubborn moss on your lawn there’s an easy tip you can follow to help it stay gone for good. You don’t need expensive chemical treatments or back-breaking labour to reclaim your grass. Instead, there are two simple household items, washing-up liquid and vinegar, which can work wonders when used correctly in your garden. Craig Morley, a gardening expert from Budget Seeds, says these two items are great for getting rid of moss. He says: “Mix a small amount of dish soap into several litres of water, before pouring this mixture into a spray bottle. “Spray the mixture onto patches of moss in your garden, holding the spray bottle a few inches away.” Washing up liquid is a surprisingly effective moss killer - it works by breaking down the moss's surface, making it easier to dry out and die. But vinegar can also be a great way to get rid of moss, as its high acidity helps kill moss by altering the pH and damaging the plant tissue. Craig recommends diluting a tablespoon of white vinegar in a few litres of water and filling a spray bottle with the mixture. He says: “Spray the water and vinegar mixture directly onto moss patches, and keep applying it daily until the moss dies. “If the moss still remains after a few days, try adding a little more vinegar to the mixture.” After the vinegar solution has killed the moss, Craig advises raking it away or digging it up from your garden. If you’re hoping to try these methods out in your garden, you should always test a small area first to ensure your lawn reacts well. Make sure you apply treatments during dry weather for maximum effectiveness and you should also rake out dead moss and reseed any bare spots to promote healthy grass growth. By following these easy tips, you can keep your garden looking well-kept this summer. Source link Posted: 2025-05-05 02:00:31 |
