Jack Draper match interrupted by medical emergency at Monte-Carlo Masters | Tennis | Sport![]() Jack Draper's clash with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the Monte-Carlo Masters was halted in the second set due to an emergency situation. Having lost the first set 6-3, Draper was up against it at 3-1 down when his service game was put on hold due to a distrurbance in the crowd. The match umpire duly announced: "Looks like someone has fainted. Please stop play." The match was held up for several minutes as medical staff rushed to the stands and Sky Sports went to an advert break. An individual was then helped from their seat and taken out of the stadium. Organisers are yet to release a statement or provide an update on the health of the individual. However, the fact he was able to get to his feet and leave the arena allayed fears of fellow spectators, who offered applause as he was led away. Draper showed little emotion as he watched on, but did appear to benefit from the short break. When play resumed he survived deuce to hold his serve, and then broke the Spaniard to level matters in the second set. Prior to the incident, emotions were running high in the third-round clash. An out-of-sorts Draper screamed "wake up" to himself after being broken to zero in the eighth game, prompting jeers from the crowd. Davidovich Fokinaalso appeared fired up. Unseeded, he began the contest very much the underdog, and let out a huge roar when he sealed the first set. Having been given a bye for the opening stage in Monaco, Draper cruised through the second round with a resounding 6-1 6-1 win over Marcos Giron. But the fifth seed was erratic in the opening stages, and had racked up six double faults when before play paused. Despite his revival against Davidovich Fokina, the world No.6 did have to save two break points at 5-5. He eventually held serve as the second set headed towards a tie-break.
