Harry and Meghan fans mark fifth anniversary of their 'freedom flight' | Royal | News

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's fans have reminisced on their "freedom flight" to California back in 2020. Sussex fan pages, such as @dukeandduchessofsussexdaily, have shared a video - which is taken from the couple's 2022 Netflix docuseries - of Meghan and Harry documenting their flight out of the UK.

Harry and Meghan - who got married in Windsor in 2018 - made the decision to step down from royal duties in early 2020 - with the couple making the decision to also move out of the UK just weeks later.

The pair now reside in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

Speaking in their Netflix series, titled Harry & Meghan, King Charles's youngest son can be heard saying, "It’s 6am on the 14th of March and we are on the freedom flight."

Before their big move to California, the couple first lived in Canada with their son - who was, at the time, less than a year-old.

In the scene, Harry added: "We are leaving Canada and we are headed to Los Angeles." With the camera on Harry, it then panned to show Meghan, Archie and their dogs - as well as Meghan's mum Doria.

After flying to California, after spending some time in Canada, the family arrival at Tyler Perry’s home in Los Angeles. Tyler is known to be good friends with Meghan and is Princess Lilibet's godfather.

Reflecting on their decision to first move to move from Canada to California, Harry said, "No one knew we were there. We were there [in Tyler's home] for six weeks and no one knew. My family still thought I was in Canada."

Meghan is currently gearing up for the release of her new Podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, next month. The former working royal, who was an actress before marrying into the Royal Family, announced the exciting news on her Instagram account earlier this month.

She wrote: "...I’ve been having candid conversations with amazing women who have turned dreams into realities, and scaled small ideas into massively successful businesses. They’re opening up, sharing their tips, tricks (and tumbles), and letting me pick their brains as I build out my own business, As ever. It has been absolutely eye-opening, inspiring…and fun! (Because what’s the point if we can’t have some fun on this wild adventure?)..."

The first episode will be released on April 8.
