We've already seen one new iPhone launch this year with the release of Apple's cheaper iPhone 16e. However, there's sure to be plenty more devices arriving later this year, with the US technology giant almost always releasing its lineup of flagship call makers in the autumn.

Most expect the upgraded iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models to arrive in September (which will replace the current iPhone 16 devices) and they could be joined by a surprise addition.

It's thought Apple is planning something completely new that will simply be called the iPhone 17 Air. As the name suggests, this smartphone could be much thinner and lighter than anything we've seen before, and to add fuel to the rumour fire, some pictures of how it could look have just appeared online.

The photos, which were posted by tech expert Sonny Dickson on X (formerly Twitter), show the iPhone 17 Air placed alongside the more chunky iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.

As you can see, the difference is pretty sizeable and could make the Air much easier to pop in your pocket. As you will see, the images show dummy devices which are often used to help accessory makers create cases ready for the big launch.

Along with being thinner, it's thought this might be the very first phone to lose all of its ports. That means no USB-C connector, with users refilling it via wireless MagSafe charging instead.

Apple has a habit of being the first to make radical changes. The iPhone 7 - released back in 2016 - was the original device to ditch the headphone port, and the iPhone 12 had the charger removed from the box.

We'll have to wait and see how close the picture is to reality, but Dickson has a pretty good track record of getting things right.

Along with showing off that slimline design, the images also reveal how the camera bump might be transformed in 2025 with the Pro models appearing to get a snapper that goes right across the rear of the phone - a bit like Google's Pixel devices.

All of the iPhone models seem to be keeping the Camera Control button, which was launched on the iPhone 16 last year, and they appear to have screen sizes similar to the current range.
