Mum's heartbreaking tribute to seven-year-old son who died at school | US | News

A mother has been left devastated after a call from her son's school about an emergency led to the discovery of her seven year old son, Eren, dead upon her arrival. Juliana Rivera, a single mother, expressed her profound grief, describing Eren as her "heart, best friend, and joy".

On a fundraising page for Eren's funeral expenses, Rivera shared: "I had him when I was young, and from the moment he was born, it was just the two of us. We grew up together in so many ways, and every step of my life has been with him by my side. He was more than my son, he was my world."

She recounted the harrowing experience of receiving an emergency call from his Texas school, only to find that he was being taken away by emergency services. "Soon after, I heard the words no mother should ever have to hear-Eren was gone. Just like that, my baby, my whole world, was taken from me," she said.

Eren was remembered by his mother as a "happy, energetic" boy who "loved life", enjoyed outdoor play, cherished moments with family and friends, and was an adoring big brother. His infectious laughter and smile impacted everyone around him.

Rivera continued: "I am completely shattered, left with no answers and a pain beyond words. No one prepares you for this. I never imagined I would have to say goodbye to my sweet boy, to the memories, and future I thought we would share together," reports The Mirror US.

The Klein school district confirmed the tragic death of a second-grade student at Epps Island Elementary School in Houston on Tuesday. In a heartfelt statement, the school expressed its sorrow: "Our entire Epps Island Elementary family is grieving, and our hearts are with the student's family, friends, classmates, and teachers during this difficult time. Out of respect for the family's privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time, but we ask that you hold them close in your hearts."

Parents have been informed that if their children or family members require support, they should reach out to the school without hesitation. The school district added that crisis counsellors would be available on campus for the remainder of the week.
