Jamie Carragher health update after falling ill and leaving CBS Sports | Football | Sport

Jamie Carragher has assured fans he's on the mend after a health scare saw him bow out from CBS Sports' live Champions League broadcast. He fell ill during Wednesday's broadcast, having made the journey to London to fulfil his punditry duties for the American TV network.

He joined forces with Kate Scott, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards on-screen, gearing up for the thrilling Champions League round-of-16 matches taking place that evening. However, when half-time rolled around, Carragher was noticeably absent from the team.

Carragher's sudden departure was confirmed by presenter Scott, who explained he was feeling unwell and therefore couldn't contribute to the commentary on the night's high-stakes matches featuring teams like Arsenal, Aston Villa and Real Madrid. While the games unfolded, Carragher reached out to his followers with a reassuring message.

"Feeling better now and just checking if the team can cope without me," he joked on Instagram, sharing a snapshot of himself monitoring the broadcast from home.

Despite beginning the evening in high spirits after analysing Tuesday's Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain game at Anfield, the health hiccup forced Carragher to take a brief leave. Nonetheless, he returned for the latter part of the evening's programme, and Kate Scott welcomed him back with a light-hearted reference: "Tonight, just like the story of the prodigal son.

"A bit too big for his boots, he thought that life would be sweeter on the road, he thought he'd be away, enjoying drinking and revelling. But he took a major loss and realised his foolishness and he came home humbled, hoping that he would be accepted. Jamie Carragher, back in the chair."

The former Liverpool defender even shared a comical tale from his trip to London. "I was on the train this morning, obviously a bit disappointed with last night... the Champions League music comes on the train," Carragher recounted.

"I'm thinking, 'What? ,' I haven't heard that before. That comes on, and then the guy starts saying, 'When you get to Euston, if you want directions to Paris'.

"I'm thinking, 'What's he on about here?' and then he did the same when we got there. "So I said to the lad who was the attendant, 'Where's the train driver?

' He went, 'Oh he's three [carriages] down,' it was too far to go, we just got into Euston.

"He was an Arsenal fan I found out, so he's putting all that on. So I said to the attendant, 'Just make sure you tell him that Arsenal haven't won anything in 20 years and just make sure you tell him I told you and can you pass on the message please'.

"So the train driver had a bit of fun and hopefully maybe I had a little bit of fun later at his expense if his understudy told him."
