Widows, don’t give up on finding love again | Ageing![]() Don’t ever despair of finding a loving partner in older age (Letters, 23 February). I was widowed at 73. Guardian Soulmates helped me find two really nice blokes when I had recovered from my loss. Sex, fun and friendship followed, but I wasn’t quite right for them. Searching again, I found somebody who eventually realised I was his ideal woman. Our relationship is the best it could be – he is loving, kind and an equal partner. In a documentary, John Prescott interviewed a young woman about her circumstances, concluding: “I would say you are working-class.” A look of despair crossed his face as she replied: “But I don’t work” (Who is ‘working class’ and why does it matter in the arts?, 21 November). Many of our universities in financial difficulties “educate more national leaders than any other country in the world” (Report, 24 February)(Report, 24 February). Well, they only have themselves to blame then. After a parents’ evening, my son, six, asked what his teacher had said. I told him she’d said he did not pay attention. “My daydreams are more interesting than her lessons,” he replied (Letters, 25 February). If Carolyn Martin wants a surefire way of getting up in the morning, I’ll lend her my bladder (Letters, 21 February). Source link Posted: 2025-02-26 19:50:12 |
