Nutritionist's top 3 spices with most health benefits like weight loss

Nutritionist Álex Yáñez has brewed up a storm with his health-boosting cuppa, which might just outshine your regular brew.

The health guru, who's built an impressive online following thanks to his straightforward wellness advice, dished on his top 3 spices for health benefits and how he incorporates them into daily life, and it all starts with a cup of tea according to Telva.

On the Realfooding podcast, he divulged: "I always recommend green tea with cinnamon before, during or after a carbohydrate meal. The tea blocks the absorption of certain carbohydrates."

He continued: "It blocks alpha-amylase, and cinnamon will regulate the little carbohydrate you consume by reducing its glycaemic load; it's fantastic. I always recommend green tea with cinnamon."

For those more indulgent meals with more fat, Yáñez adds a bit of ginger too, noting its ability to help control body temperature, ward off nausea, and fight inflammation.

Notably, both green tea and cinnamon have been scientifically acknowledged for their weight loss benefits, though they're most effective in this when combined with a healthy diet and exercise.

Yáñez also highlighted cinnamon's potential perks for diabetics, citing its proven track record in blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity.

Moreover, the cinnamon-spiked beverage has other perks: "Tea has many antioxidant benefits derived from catechins very similar to coffee, but it has also been shown to protect from cancer.

"Green tea also has benefits in improving dysbiosis, helping to regulate damaged microbiome."

Álex highlighted the iron content in cinnamon which could bolster the immune system to combat respiratory diseases. However, he noted that not all cinnamon offers the same health benefits.

He advised: "The one that is more reddish in colour, Ceylon cinnamon, is the one with more benefits."

The expert also cautioned individuals about the amount of cinnamon they consume as excessive intake could lead to a laxative effect.
