Viktor Gyokeres alternative ‘wants Man Utd move’ as INEOS go cold on transfer freebie | Football | Sport![]() With Liam Delap signing for Chelsea and Viktor Gyokeres sure to cost a pretty penny, Manchester United are still considering their centre-forward options. New signing Matheus Cunha will bolster Ruben Amorim's attack, and Bryan Mbeumo could join him if a deal can be struck with Brentford, but there is still scope for more additions at the top end of the pitch. There is one candidate who United were interested in leading up to the summer transfer window, who reportedly wants a move to the Red Devils more than any other club, and who would not even command a transfer fee. But it seems as though Old Trafford bosses INEOS have gone cold on outgoing Lille striker Jonathan David. According to Corriere dello Sport, David went into the summer hoping for a move to either Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain or United. But with a Premier League move his top priority, an approach from INEOS would likely carry more weight than from any other suitor. David scored 16 Ligue 1 goals last season - his fourth consecutive campaign of hitting at least the 15 mark - and at 25 years old, he still has his prime years ahead of him. Despite all the plus points, the Canadian international is still waiting for one of his three dream clubs to make their move. The report adds that none of them have advanced for the forward since scouting him out several months ago. Instead, David appears to be edging towards a move to Italy. Napoli and Inter Milan have both been linked, but it's Juventus who are currently the furthest along, and they could soon put an offer on the table. It remains to be seen how far United are forced to go down their striker wish list before getting their hands on a new face. Delap went into the window as their top target, with Gyokeres also presumed to be high up due to his successful time spent under Amorim at Sporting. Victor Osimhen, who piled up the goals on loan at Galatasaray last campaign, has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, along with RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko. Amorim may yet decide that he has all the reinforcements he needs in Cunha and Mbeumo, provided United are able to find a deal for the latter. Mbeumo is dangerous on the right wing but he has also had success playing as an orthodox central striker. Source link Posted: 2025-06-06 15:45:40 |
