Protester storms Super Bowl halftime show during Kendrick Lamar performance | NFL | Sport

A protester carrying a Palestine flag interrupted the Super Bowl LIX halftime show during Kendrick Lamar's performance.

The man ran onto the field during the interval as millions tuned in to watch rapper Lamar perform 'TV Off' at Caesars Superdrome in New Orleans.

The individual held a two-part flag featuring the colours of Palestine and Sudan.

The person appeared in all black clothing and stood on the black vehicle that was part of the stage setting. The flag read 'Sudan' and 'Gaza', complete with black hearts.

It initially appeared that it was simply part of the act put on by Lamar. However, it quickly became apparent that the person was not authorised to be on the stage.

After around 30 seconds of standing on the stage, three security officers in black suits came across to remove the disruptor.

He was chased onto the field by security staff, apprehended and swiftly removed from the stage at around the 45-yard line.

The incident was not broadcast to viewers on ITV or Sky Sports in the UK.

Lamar's halftime show continued uninterrupted as he rattled through some of his greatest hits, including the controversial Drake diss track 'Not Like Us'.

The American artist's show, which received mixed reviews from fans on social media, featured guest appearances from singer SZA, Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson, and 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.

It is not yet known how the person managed to infiltrate security, who were stationed around the stadium in huge numbers.

It wasn't the only protest that took place in New Orleans on Super Bowl Sunday, with plenty of people taking President Donald Trump to ask as he arrived for the game.

Trump - the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl - was spotted leaving during the third quarter.

Barring a miraculous comeback from Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles were heading towards a famous victory after leading 34-6 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
