Australian Open LIVE: Raducanu defends herself after loss as star copies Federer | Tennis | Sport

From fellow Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, plenty of Gael Monfils' contemporaries have already retired.

While some have questioned when the 38-year-old will hang up his racket, he's letting his tennis do the talking.

So far in 2025, the former world No. 6 has proved that age is just a number. After winning the ASB Classic title, he's stunned Taylor Fritz to return to the second week of a Grand Slam tournament.

Explaining how he was doing it aged 38, Monfils said:

I’ve been just fortunate. "Every day is different. We work hard.

"I try to be very disciplined with the recovery, I have a strong belief of myself, strong belief that I can still do something at this age.

"I have big trust with my team and obviously, with a little bit of luck, here we are, second week of Australian Open."
