Meghan Markle to promote her own products in new Netflix series | Royal | News

Meghan Markle will reportedly advertise her own brand's products in her new Netflix show, sources have claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex soft launched her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard (ARO) last March by landing an Instagram page and website for it.

ARO's launch was followed by a brief promotional period with Meghan sending some of the products to be sold under its name, like jams and dog biscuits, to her influencer friends, including Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen and Kris Jenner.

However, although the brand was originally reported to coincide with the release of a cookery show on Netflix, there have not been many updates since then, despite Meghan's show getting released on January 15.

Now, sources have claimed Netflix will play a major role in promoting and distributing ARO's products, which will be featured in the duchess's new show, With Love, Meghan, as first reported by Page Six.

The outlet, which cited "multiple" sources for its claims, reported that the streaming giant will release Meghan's products alongside its content.

It noted previous examples like when it launched a limited-edition Chardonnay called Love is Wine to accompany its reality TV hit Love is Blind. The wine reportedly sold out within a matter of days.

A source said: "The more that Netflix is getting into live events, the more this kind of thing makes sense for their future.

"They’re working with advertisers now, which gives them more opportunity to have mutually beneficial partnerships like this."

The Duchess of Sussex and Netflix have both been contacted for comment.

Meghan's lifestyle brand has suffered a series of setbacks, with one of them in September reportedly involving "irregularities" with its trademark and its registration to the US Patents and Trademarks Office - the agency responsible for granting US patents and registering trademarks.

At the time, it was understood that the Notices of Irregularity were entirely normal and expected, and that any fees associated with them had been paid.

In October, the Daily Mail reported another setback, which came in the form of a "protest" to USPTO by a firm owning the trademark "Royal Riviera", which was "deemed relevant" due to "likelihood of confusion".

Sources from the Sussex camp have previously claimed these setbacks are normal.

With Love, Meghan, which was filmed in a mansion close to the Duke and Duchess's home in Montecito, California, will be release next Wednesday, January 15, on Netflix.
