'We bought a house – what previous owner left behind startled us'

A family who recently purchased a new home have been left stunned by what the previous owner left behind for them do as they please with.

The Holiday family, who are now renovating their 1930s abode and documenting the progress on TikTok, couldn't believe their eyes after discovering a room full of items from years gone by. "This took two skips and about three days to clear!" the Holidays penned in a caption as they headed into the room to reveal its contents to their followers.

Heading through double doors, mum Emma asked: "Are you ready for this? What the actual f***?" Her camera panned around their "library" to reveal shelves of folders, office equipment, but most notably a huge collection of CDs.

"So I've left a few CDs," Emma said sarcastically, mimicking the words of the previous occupant. "I could literally open a HMV," she joked. "Let me just explain to you how many CDs there are here."

"So, every single one is numbered - can you see that?" Emma continued, showcasing CD number 57,789 as an example. With only several hundred items of the collection in view, she explained: "If you're wondering where the rest are, they're in the garages.

Emma then revealed the "favourite" thing she's found - a VHS player and audio cassette tapes. "For all you teenagers out there, give it a Google," she joked.

The Holidays' followers were quick to point out there was "money to be made" from the collection, meanwhile. "A lot of money to be made in retro music and video stuff, make sure it goes to a collector and not someone wanting to take advantage and make a quick profit," one TikTok user commented.

Another agreed: "Seriously, that's money right there. Don't throw any of it, call up a record shop or a record fair and see if they can take them off you. Some are worth silly money." And a third suggested: "Download Music Magpie or one of those apps, get the kids to scan them all and box them and let them keep the money. You get rid of them and they make some cash."

After several other TikTok users questioned why the previous owner had taken the time to meticulously label each CD, Emma explained: "He was an old radio DJ and labelled everything. His collection is huge. It was all in the garages too. The amount of books he left I could open a library also!"

Another person suggested the previous owner should be legally obliged to pay for the removal of his former belongings, meanwhile. However, Emma explained the items were a last minute addition to the contract and the home was "sold as seen".
