Homes will 'smell lovely' with this £2 cleaning product — Mrs Hinch fa

There are few things as satisfying as a clean home, with the surfaces and floors all wiped and washed, rooms uncluttered and a nice fresh smell lingering in all the rooms.

But some cleaning products can leave an overpowering chemical smell which, far from being pleasant, can be overwhelming and almost make it difficult to stay in the room.

One cleaning product receiving a lot of attention at the moment is the Purdy and Figg range, which gives users a refillable "bottle for life" which they can then fill and refill with different scents and cleaning products (which come in smaller bottles). Some reviewers have called it a "game-changer" for cleaning.

But one homeowner took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page to ask if anyone had any alternatives.

They said: "Looking for a cleaning product that will make my house smell lovely l. I've seen the Purdy and Figg hype but reading lots of people's reviews that it smears so I'm not about that life. Any suggestions?

"I currently like Asevi, I've used Zoflora but I'm worried about having a dog and using it. What are people using on, like, wooden dining tables and TV units for example?"

The vast majority of people who responded to the comment on the page, which has more than 500,000 followers, said that they liked the Method cleaning range.

One user said: "Method are very pleasant-smelling." Another said: "I agree with the other ladies… definitely Method! We have a black lab who has massive allergies, so I have to be careful with everything and he’s fine with this. Plus it’s non-toxic and smells delicious."

A third said: "Method Clementine for kitchen and bathroom spray for bathroom. I’m a professional cleaner and highly rate them both for cleaning power and scent. They also do a polish for wood which smells amazing!"

Another fan of the product said: "I'm also putting my hand up for Method. Smell lovely, have attractive bottles, you can buy refills if you wish and are safe for pets."

However, one woman, who said she was a professional cleaner, said: "Just beware of bathroom Method on white sinks. I’m a cleaner and noticed one of my clients who uses Method looks like they’ve just sprayed it on and not rinsed properly and it’s stained. Not dissing the product as it smells gorgeous."

Responding to the suggestion that Purdy and Figg "smears" as suggested by the original person posing the question, one user said: "I love Purdy and Figg... I’ve not found it smears." Another said: "Purdy and Figg does smell beautiful but does have to be rubbed up well afterwards."

Method cleaning products come designed for a range of different surfaces and in a range of scents, including Cream Custard, Wild Rhubarb, Almond and Apple Orchard. Purdy and Figg scents include Juniper and Cardamom, Lavender and Chamomile and Patchouli and Cedarwod.

You can buy Method products on Amazon here while you can also buy the Purdy and Figg range here.
