Top 10 most impactful War films ranked by Brits in new Remembrance Day poll | Films | Entertainment This Sunday and Monday mark Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day 2024 when the UK looks back in memory of those who laid down their lives for our nation and our allies in war. Now, Find My Past has polled 2000 British adults to discover the Top 10 most impactful War films of all time. Check out the list below, which includes three Steven Spielberg movies. Plus every British director featured has a knighthood, bar one.
8. 1917 (2019)Sir Sam Mendes’ Oscar-winning classic follows two British soldiers on a mission during World War I to deliver a message to call off an attack the Germans were prepared for. Featuring cameos from stars like Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie was shot in a distinctly unique way. Acclaimed cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins filmed it in long takes to make the whole two-hour spectacle look like just two continuous shots.
