Dan Wootton's two-word reply after Princess Kate's surprise appearance | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Dan Wootton shared his thoughts as the Princess of Wales officially returned to royal duties alongside Prince William. In her first public outing since her chemotherapy treatment ended the former GB News presenter expressed his delight the future Queen "appropriately chose Southport" to make an appearance.

Writing on X, the broadcaster, 41, gushed over Princess Kate as royal fans reacted to his kind words; Dan tweeted: "How special.

"Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has returned to work, making her first community visit since ending her cancer treatment."

"Appropriately, she chose Southport, the scene of the massacre that took the lives of three young girls at a Taylor Swift dance class," he concluded.

Royal fans flocked to comment on the post as one of his 589,000 followers wrote: "Lovely , compassionate and dignified. Her care and empathy shine through."

A second gushed: "She strikes me as someone with a genuine heart and consideration for others. I do believe she’ll be as equally horrified at what happened, and not just there for the cameras."

A third offered: "She really is a national treasure," while a fourth mused: "Class act."

Royal sources say she decided to join Prince William to show her "support, empathy and compassion to the local community" of Merseyside.

The royal couple held a private meeting with the families of the three girls killed in the summer - Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine. The three girls were all fatally stabbed during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29 in the north-west seaside town.

Although the Princess of Wales was not officially scheduled to visit Southport on Thursday (October 10), she felt well enough to attend the engagement with her husband to show her support and compassion to members of the local community.

The royal couple also joined emergency responders with William branding them "heroes".

On social media platform X, after the visit, the Prince and Princess of Wales issued a touching message to the community. It read: "We continue to stand with everyone in Southport. Meeting the community today has been a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting one another in the wake of unimaginable tragedy.

"You will remain in our thoughts and prayers. W & C."
