The first trailer for Gladiator 2 (aka Gladiator II) hit the internet yesterday continuing the story over 20 years on.

Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal stars as Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire, previously portrayed by Spencer Treat Clark in Ridley Scott’s original 2000 film.

The Roman epic was a box office smash and won five Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.

Co-starring Joaquin Phoenix and the late actors Oliver Reed and Richard Harris, Gladiator is available to watch on several UK streaming services.

Fans can watch the Hollywood classic in HD on Netflix, Prime Video and NOW. The film is also available to rent for £3.49 or buy for £7.99 on Apple TV.

Several actors are reprising their roles in Gladiator II including Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, the mother of Lucius. Meanwhile, Derek Jacobi returns as Senator Gracchus, who opposed Commodus’ rule.
