Oven cleaning can be a real headache, often requiring a ton of elbow grease, and even then, getting it sparkling clean is a tough task.

Spills and fallen food particles can become baked onto the surfaces of your oven. Unfortunately, most of the conventional oven cleaners are extremely toxic and contain chemicals that are dangerous to breathe in.

For those nasty “baked-on grease marks”, there is one kitchen item that is “simple” but is “the most effective natural oven cleaner” - and it’s not white vinegar.

Having tried and tested eight different oven-cleaning home remedies, experts at Soapranos Cleaning Services, claim that baking soda and water give the “best results” when it comes to cleaning the inside of greasy ovens.

For this tip, simply combine three tablespoons of water with two tablespoons of baking soda. Stir together until it is an even mixture. 

Apply to the interior of your oven and let it sit for 20 minutes before “wiping it off clean with ease”.

The experts said: “Baking soda and water is one of the easiest cleaning solutions you can make and actually has better results than the ones that rely on white vinegar as the primary cleaning ingredient.

“Although white vinegar can be an effective cleaning agent in other situations, the acidity of vinegar is not strong enough to break up the stubborn grime found in most ovens.”

Part of the reason why the baking soda solution works so well is the power of this kitchen staple. 

The cleaners explained: “Baking soda is incredibly absorbent, which is why it works so well for absorbing unwanted odours in refrigerators. 

“When used inside of an oven, baking soda can absorb stubborn grease and helps loosen the stuck-on burnt debris.”

While it is often recommended to use lemon juice to remove grease from your oven, the experts argue otherwise.

They found that “lemon juice struggles to make a significant impact” on the interior of the oven.

While citric acid can work really well in cleaning solutions for countertops and bathtubs, it “does not have the power to break down the stuck-on grime” that can be baked to the inside of an oven.
