Ruben Amorim is overseeing a desperately needed attacking overhaul this summer after Manchester United scored just 44 Premier League goals in an abysmal 2024/25 campaign. United's likely first two signings of the transfer window managed a combined tally of 35, which indicates the upgrades in sight.
Matheus Cunha is through the door already, joining in a £62.5million transfer from Wolves in early June. Bryan Mbeumo is expected to follow him to Old Trafford, with negotiations ongoing after Brentford rejected an opening bid worth £55m two weeks ago. Both forwards represent Premier League-proven quality and have the credentials to make an instant impact next season.
They will make up a new-look attacking regiment, which should also include a striker signing once United raise funds through player sales.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho all look set to depart permanently as part of Amorim's shake-up.
But while the Portuguese head coach would enter the 2025/26 campaign with more confidence in his attack to produce goals, he has given himself a headache elsewhere.
Cunha and Mbeumo will be viewed as starters next term, likely in the two 'No. 10' positions on either side of the striker.
That has sparked suggestions that Amad could grow frustrated if he receives most of his minutes at right-wing-back as a result.
In a recent interview with Express Sport, former United striker Louis Saha stressed that the club could not allow that to happen.
"Nooo [Amad can't leave]! No! No! If there are one or two players who should not leave, it is him and Bruno Fernandes," Saha explained.
"He is the kind of player who does not care where he plays. He has said it himself; he will play as a left-back or centre-back - he will just play."
But while Amad is primed to stay put at Old Trafford, his permanent tenancy at right-wing-back brings Diogo Dalot's role into dispute.
Amorim's Portuguese compatriot played the third-most minutes among outfield players under the 40-year-old boss last season - after Bruno Fernandes and Noussair Mazraoui.
With Amad and Patrick Dorgu seemingly nailed on for the two wing-back positions, Dalot surely would be unhappy with a reduced role after years of regular starts.
Given United's limited budget, Amad could feature in attacking midfield with one of Cunha or Mbeumo playing up front. That would allow Dalot to continue at right-wing-back.
But by rolling in a new age of attackers at Old Trafford, Amorim risks upsetting other players he would likely rather keep around.
