Shoppers will have to act fast if they want to be one of the lucky few to get their hands on a limited edition product being rolled out by Aldi to coincide with Oasis' upcoming reunion gigs. The German multinational chain unveiled a brand-new limited edition tipple called Supernova Champagne this week, with a strict one-per-person rule on purchases and availability limited to one of its Manchester branches. Supernova Champagne, named after one of Oasis' biggest hits, hit shelves in Aldi's Bury New Road store on Monday, just in time for Noel and Liam Gallagher's return to their hometown for a series of shows between July 11 and July 20.

The band kicked off their reunion tour in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday, marking their first gig since disbanding in 2009. The Aldi branch stocking bespoke-themed champagne sits just a stone's throw from Heaton Park, where the brothers are set to make their triumphant return to Manchester this week.

The supermarket appears to have anticipated largescale demand for the limited edition drink, with the one-per-customer rule ostensibly in place to allow as many shoppers to celebrate the band's return to the stage in style.

The tipple has been created using Aldi's award-wining Veuve Monsigny Champage Brut, with the new 'supernova' design paying homage to one of the songs fans will be clamouring to hear on Friday.

Derrick Smith, an Oasis fan based in Manchester who made a beeline for the store to pick up the 75cl bottle, said he had left the house at quarter past six on Monday and waited an hour before the store opened, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Another London-based fan, Jack Blake, added that he had driven from the capital to Manchester after seeing a post about the new product. "I thought, I must try and get a bottle!" he said.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial operator at Aldi UK, said: "We’re thrilled to launch Supernova Champagne, a special, limited-edition rebrand of our award-winning Veuve Monsigny.

"We're offering shoppers a unique and memorable way to raise a glass to this iconic moment in music history."
