Ringo Starr grabs guitar and halts show with five-word instruction | Music | Entertainment

A comical incident unfolded at a Ringo Starr concert earlier this week when the legendary Beatles drummer stopped his band from performing a particular song.

In a surprising turn of events, the iconic drummer seized the guitar from his All Starr bandmate and announced that they wouldn't be playing the song he had started that night.

Ringo, who now performs with ex-members of Men at Work and Toto, chose to play another classic hit instead.

The uproarious episode was caught on camera by an audience member, who subsequently shared the clip on TikTok.

At 84 years old, Ringo has astonished fans with his vigour during live shows.

One performance, which took place on June 15 in Philadelphia, treated fans to brief snippets of Beatles tunes before Ringo stepped in to halt the music.

A grinning Ringo stops Toto guitarist Steve Lukather mid-performance, declaring: "We're not doing that one."

Following a brief playthrough with the Beatles song Day Tripper, Lukather transitions into Please Please Me, only for the former Fab Four member to swiftly end the teaser.

Ringo joked: "I won't let him take charge again. But what we are gonna do is one of my favourite songs ever. And it goes like this."He then kicked off the beloved Beatles hit, Yellow Submarine, much to the delight of the crowd.

This hilarious moment has now gone viral on social media, as admirers express amusement at Ringo's vibrant stage presence despite being well into his eighties.

Those in attendance were left hopeful for a rendition of Day Tripper, a track that once soared to the number five spot on the US singles charts. A fan queried: "Why didn't he do Day Tripper?" And it's certain that plenty would have been eager to hear the classic as well.

Ringo gave performances of Beatles classics and tracks from his solo album, Look Up, which hit the shelves in January this year. The complete setlist is available below.
