Charles Leclerc offers snappy response following wild Ferrari rumours | F1 | Sport

Charles Leclerc has rubbished reports linking him with a move away from Ferrari, insisting that he is loyal to the legendary Italian constructor. The Monegasque racer has been frustrated with the Scuderia's performance in 2025 as Fred Vasseur's squad continue to operate in the shadow of runaway Constructors' Championship leaders McLaren.

The 27-year-old is on a strong run of form heading into the Canadian Grand Prix, recording back-to-back podiums that have moved him within 17 points of fourth-placed George Russell in the Drivers' Championship standings. However, his dream is to win a title with Ferrari, and so this streak has been of little consolation to Leclerc.

Ahead of the Grand Prix in Montreal, a report from Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera explained that Leclerc is allegedly losing faith in Vasseur's squad, with members of his inner circle suggesting that there is an exit clause that could allow him to chase a move elsewhere.

Asked about the reports, Leclerc said: "I'm very surprised. I have no idea where it's coming from. So, I'll rather just ignore it. But I've never said anything of this in the last few races. If anything, I keep saying how much I love the team and how much I want to bring back Ferrari to the top. I was just surprised.

"We have a vision that we share, us three - Fred, Lewis [Hamilton] and myself - in order to try and get back to winning. And we've been working to put that all together. And so, yeah, this is our plan. I think we should stick to it."

With the Constructors' Championship trophy out of the question and Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris going toe-to-toe for the Drivers' Championship crown, Ferrari are fighting for pride in 2025 - and that involves beating rivals Mercedes and Red Bull. As things stand, Vasseur's squad sit six points clear of the Silver Arrows in third place.

"We are already putting ourselves under a lot of pressure," Leclerc continued. "Then, of course, there are some talks that it's not something that you want to hear. But the pressure is normal to have it. When you are working for Ferrari, second is never good enough. But we are all aware of it.

"So it's not like the outside pressure is having any influence on the pressure that we put on ourselves first. We want to be winning. And as I keep saying, it's not good enough. But I'm not the only one to say that. All the team knows that it's not good enough and that Ferrari should be winning. And that's what we are putting all our efforts into, is to try and bring Ferrari back to the top."
