M3GAN's synopsis reads: "M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a lifelike doll that's programmed to be a child's greatest companion and a parent's greatest ally. "Designed by Gemma, a brilliant roboticist, M3GAN can listen, watch and learn as it plays the role of friend and teacher, playmate and protector. "When Gemma becomes the unexpected caretaker of her eight-year-old niece, she decides to give the girl an M3GAN prototype, a decision that leads to unimaginable consequences." Gerard Johnstone directed M3GAN, with stars including Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, Jenna Davis and Amie Donald. M3GAN gets a 93% rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics. The critics consensus reads: "Unapologetically silly and all the more entertaining for it, M3GAN is the rare horror-comedy that delivers chuckles as effortlessly as chills. "A brilliantly fun juggling act of eerie themes, campy humour and sincere drama, there is something for everyone here," said a Rotten Tomatoes critic." One reviewer stated: "Viewers will leave the theatre with guilty-pleasure glee from drinking in M3GAN’s witty escalating kill skills and choice of victims. The film’s worth the price of admission just to see the can-do doll’s rubbery smooth facial reactions." The sequel M3GAN 2.0 will follow Gemma, who has become an advocate for government oversight of AI. But when a defense contractor creates a military-grade weapon known as Amelia, the ultimate infiltration spy, terror ensues. M3GAN will be available to watch on Channel 4 on Saturday night at 9.35pm.
