Emma Raducanu drops exciting hint at Queen's after not-so-subtle TV message | Tennis | Sport

Emma Raducanu dropped a major hint that she will again team up with Katie Boulter after her latest win at Queen's. The 22-year-old breezed into the quarter-final stage with a 6-4 6-1 win over Rebecca Sramkova, having earlier in the day become the new British No.1

Raducanu appeared in cruise control against the Slovakian in the first set, racing into a 5-0 lead. However, she then wobbled as she looked to serve it out, twice broken before regaining her nerve on serve at the third time of asking. There were no dramas thereafter though, and broke three times in the second set to seal the win.

It came just a day after Raducanu and Boulter went out of the doubles at the quarter-final stage. However, the 2021 US Open champion appeared to make it clear afterwards that fans had not seen the last of the pair working together, writing "Long live BoulterCanu" on the TV lens.

After her singles win, she admitted she found it difficult to get over her disappointment on Wednesday but again dropped a big hint over playing alongside Boulter again, telling BBC: "Honestly it was a real challenge for me today.

"I am not used to playing doubles and I was really upset and really felt I was out of the tournament so it was difficult to fire myself up for this. I'd really like to play with Katie again in the future."

The crowd were firmly behind Raducanu during her first-set wobble. Sure enough, she also acknowledged the vociferous backing and outlined the importance of her quick start.

"I am really pleased to get through that," she added. "I don't think it was my cleanest performance but I am really pleased to push through in the tight moments.

"I really appreciate the support in that spell when she was coming back. I came out ready, expecting everything I am just happy I was able to get off to a good start and build a lead."
