Argos is selling the iPad at ‘lowest price ever’ but stock is running out

Apple doesn’t often - if ever - discount its products on its own website or in its stores, so it’s up to the rest of the UK’s electronics retailers to knock a few pounds off every now and then. If you’re thinking you need to upgrade your iPad, or have never had one because they’re a little too expensive to justify, this could be the right time to invest.

Right now, Argos is selling the 2022 iPad for just £269, which it says is its “lowest price ever” for the popular tablet. This model is no longer sold by Apple, which replaced it with a newer model it calls the A16 iPad (the official iPad naming schemes are very confusing).

The 2022 iPad that’s on sale for £269 originally sold for £499 when it was released, so this is an excellent price compared to the initial RRP. Apple later saw sense and dropped the price to £349, but the Argos price is still £80 less than that.

I don’t think this deal will be around for long, though. That’s because the only colour in stock of the iPad is the pink model, with the alternative blue and silver models showing as sold out.

It looks as though this is a very popular deal, and there may not be more stock on the way as this is a discontinued iPad, so the pink model at this price is your best bet.

For £269 you get the iPad with 64GB storage and Wi-Fi connectivity. It has a 10.9-inch LCD Retina display and charges via USB-C, not the older Lightning port. There are front and rear cameras all packed into a body that’s just 7mm thin. It’s delightfully portable.

The iPad runs Apple’s A14 chip, which is admittedly a little long in the tooth, meaning this iPad is not for strenuous computing like editing 4K video or running multiple apps side by side. The 64GB storage also won’t go far. So, this is a great option if you want a screen to stream Netflix or Disney Plus on, check email, browse the web, and make video calls.

iPads are well made and Apple supports them with software updates for several years, plus there are hundreds of official and third party case and accessory options too.

Amazon has run out of stock of this particular model, as has Currys, so if you want to grab an iPad for a very good price this week, Argos is the place to do it.
