Homemade burgers will be 'extremely nutritious' if you add 1 unusual ingredient![]() Burgers are a go-to favourite when craving a quick and comforting meal. Making a burger at home gives you an opportunity to add your favourite ingredients while maintaining a healthy balance. A food expert has suggested adding one unusual ingredient to your burger, which will make it “extremely nutritious”. Experts from Food Republic shared that adding anchovies to your homemade burger will add “some extra vitamins and minerals” to the dish. Anchovies are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and essential vitamins such as B3 and B12. They also contain selenium, iron, and calcium, which contribute to heart, thyroid, immune, and bone health. The food experts said: “While these little fishies aren't everyone's cup of tea, anchovies are salty, umami-packed powerhouses. “They’re also extremely nutritious and will add some extra vitamins and minerals to your burgers, including healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Don't worry; I promise they're not going to make your burgers taste like seafood.” The experts advised picking up the anchovies that come in olive oil as they are less “messy”. They explained: “Start by picking up a jar of those anchovies that come in olive oil. You can go for tinned anchovies but they're a little bit messier to store if you're not using the whole lot at once. “You only need one or two of these little guys, depending on the size of the anchovies and how big your burger batch is.” After getting them from the supermarket, dice them finely and or put them in a food processor. The next step is to combine them thoroughly into the burger mixture. The experts concluded: “Once again, be wary that they're going to contribute to the saltiness of your patties, so adjust your other seasonings accordingly.” Source link Posted: 2025-06-11 11:51:54 |
