Sky offers blockbuster TV upgrade today - you get 35 extra channels for free

It's very rare you get something for nothing, but that's exactly what Sky is dishing out this weekend. From today, June 6, until Monday, June 9th, some lucky customers will get over 35 bonus channels for free. Yes, you did read that correctly. The boost is part of Sky’s Ultimate TV Weekender, and it's well worth checking out if you fancy binge-watching some boxsets and catching up on exclusive shows or documentaries.

It's a nice bonus. So, who is eligible, how do you get this massive boost, and what's included? Sky says it's offering customers who currently subscribe to the basic Essential TV pack the chance to switch to the more content-packed Sky Ultimate TV bundle at no extra cost. This update will run all over the weekend and means Essential TV users will see extra channels such as Sky Max, Sky Crime, Sky Documentaries, U&Gold, and Comedy Central appearing on their screens.

"From 6 – 9 June, Sky Essential TV customers can access Sky Ultimate TV at no extra cost," Sky explained in an email sent to Express.co.uk

"There’s no action required, all Sky Essential TV customers will have access to Sky Ultimate TV and 35,000 shows over the rainy weekend."

Of course, Sky will clearly be hoping that once it's giving Essential TV users a taste of shows such as Matlock and The Rookie, Hacks, Rob Beckett’s Smart TV, Boyzone No Matter What, Planet Weird and The Righteous Gemstone they will want to sign and up continuing accessing Sky Ultimate TV once the freebie ends.

Sky says those who want Sky Ultimate TV will need to pay an extra £7 per month.

It's been a busy week for Sky. Along with announcing this free content boost, the company has also revealed when its Glass Air telly is going on sale.

When it arrives in homes next week, Sky Glass Air will offer live and on-demand telly via your broadband so there's no need for a dish. It also comes packed with all the most popular streaming apps, features a 4K display and Dolby Audio for better sound.

There are three sizes to choose from (43”, 55”, and 65”) plus three colours (Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White) to suit your room.

It's not quite as impressive as the Sky Glass Gen 2 TV, but it's worth a look if you're on a budget.
