Since 2014’s John Wick was a surprise hit, the immersive world of Keanu Reeves’ unstoppable hitman continues to expand as a franchise.

To date, there have been four John Wick movies, with Chapters 2 and 3 basically being one back-to-back story after the cliffhanger between them.

Then came 2023’s John Wick Chapter 4, which is set six months after the events of Chapter 3 and gave the series something of a conclusion to the High Table narrative ahead of the upcoming John Wick 5.

A few months later, Peacock released a three-part miniseries prequel called The Continental.

Set in the 1970s, the show co-starring Mel Gibson follows a young Winston, depicting how he became the manager of the New York hitman hotel.

Next up in the franchise is Ballerina, a spin-off movie starring Ana de Armas as one of the dancing assassins teased at the start of Chapter 3, when Wick briefly takes refuge with the Ruska Roma. Ana de Armas’ new film, which hits cinemas this weekend, is set between the events of Chapters 3 and 4. Early on, the film features scenes from Chapter 3 taken from her perspective as Wick meets with Anjelica Huston’s The Director.

That is before a two-month jump (so now four months before Chapter 4) for the rest of the film. So if you’re wondering which movies to watch before Ballerina, put on John Wick 1-3, catch the new film in cinemas and then watch Chapter 4 at home afterwards.
