Gardeners urged to plant flowers in 1 vegetable so they can thrive

Growing and caring for flowers demands patience - as well as the use of various wacky techniques to ensure they flourish and remain healthy. Gardening experts have shared a unique way to plant flowers in order to keep them thriving.

In an unusual gardening hack, gardeners have been urged to plant their flowers in a potato as the vegetable is excellent at retaining moisture. Potatoes become a useful temporary base for propagating cuttings or nurturing small plants as they establish roots. Many experts shared that growing a rose cutting from a potato has yielded "great results".

Experts from Better Homes and Gardens revealed that one can actually grow a rose cutting in a potato. They said: "It is simple to grow rose cuttings in potatoes.

"The theory behind this method is that the potato will keep the cutting moist and provide the plant with the nutrients it needs to thrive. As the plant grows, the potato will break down naturally, nourishing the soil.

"While some may say that growing rose cuttings in a potato is a myth (or, at the very least, an unnecessary extra step), the truth is potatoes generally have a high water content, which will help keep the cutting moist and increase the chances of the plant taking root and flourishing in your garden."
