Everyone with an iPhone needs to know one important date this month

There's a massive month ahead for Apple with the US technology giant confirming that it will hold its yearly WWDC Developers Conference in just over 7 days' time. The major event will officially get underway on Monday, June 9, at the firm's Apple Park HQ in Cupertino, California, and it's definitely not something to miss if you own an iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch or iPad.

Although a Developers Conference might not sound that thrilling for consumers, don't be fooled.

If history repeats itself, we're expecting CEO Tim Cook and his team to announce plenty of exciting updates, including the first look at Apple's latest iOS, MacOS, iPadOS, and WatchOS operating systems. The firm's Vision Pro headset could also get a boost.

Although Apple never reveals anything ahead of the launch, it's likely that we'll see new features, a refreshed design, improvements to Apple Intelligence, better health tracking and more announced at WWDC.

Rumours are also rife that the US technology firm will completely shake things up this year with a new name for its operating systems.

According to Bloomberg, Apple might ditch the usual step up from the current iOS 18 to iOS 19 and call its new platforms iOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26 instead.

This could make it easier for consumers to know if their systems are up to date and if they are running the very latest software with the name matching the year most people will end up using it in (2026).

We'll find out full details soon, but all Apple fans should definitely pop June 9 in their diaries.

Things are expected to kick off from Apple Park at around 10am local time - that's 6pm BST - and Express.co.uk will bring you all the news live as it happens.

“We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We can’t wait to share the latest tools and technologies that will empower developers and help them continue to innovate.”
