Bruno Fernandes 'seriously considering Man Utd exit' as agent flies out for talks | Football | Sport

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly giving serious consideration to leaving Manchester United. An offer from Al-Hilal, which would sensationally treble his Red Devils salary, is said to be on the table.

It is claimed that Al-Hilal are prepared to pay United an eye-watering £80million to land their influential captain and best player this summer. If he accepts the move, Fernandes will reportedly sign a four-year contract and earn £21m as a net annual salary. According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old has not ruled out the prospect of leaving Old Trafford and his agent has flown out for talks. No final decision has been made and he may still remain with the Premier League club next season.

But Fernandes is said to be giving the offer 'serious consideration'. A potential move would see United lose their Player of the Year and a midfielder who struck 19 goals and provided 20 assists during the 2024-25 campaign.

During a dreadful campaign for United, who finished 15th in the Premier League, Fernandes was a rare highlight. However, United may view a possible exit as a chance to earn a huge sum for a player who is now in his thirties. Having warned fans that the club has flown close to a breach of profit and sustainability rules, club bosses must sanction big-money sales to complete a much-needed overhaul of Ruben Amorim's squad over the coming months.

After the Europa League final last week, Fernandes openly suggested that he may depart if United feel the money on offer is too much. The Portugal international said: “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash-in, football sometimes is like this.”

However, he dialled down his tone after United beat Aston Villa 2-0 on the final day of the season, insisting: “I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world. What more can I ask?

“I just have to give it my all, for my team-mates, for myself, for my fans and for everyone who has been through every moment with me. That’s all.”

United are reportedly 'relaxed' about the situation. Fernandes, who was also linked with a departure 12 months ago, has two years remaining on his contract. Amorim would like to keep the experienced star.

“He is really important for us and what we want to build for the team,” the United boss said after watching his side be beaten by ASEAN All-Stars earlier this week. “We talk about this many times. You can see by his performances. You can see by his leadership. You can see the passion he has for the game. In difficult moments Bruno is the guy who takes responsibility. He should do because he is the captain.”
