Meghan Markle blow after As Ever jam gets scathing 4-word review by 'narcissism expert' | Royal | News

Meghan Markle was dealt another blow after a so-called "narcissism expert" reviewed her As Ever brand and gave it a scathing, four-word review before comparing it to King Charles's. When the Duchess of Sussex launched her lifestyle series in March, she released a wide range of products, including her long-anticipated raspberry jam.

For its first collection, As Ever's launch included a raspberry spread in keepsake packaging, a raspberry spread without keepsake packaging, herbal lemon ginger tea, herbal peppermint tea, herbal hibiscus tea, flower sprinkles, crepe mix, shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles included and a limited-edition wildflower honey with honeycomb. Meghan's jam in keepsake packaging - the only one available at the time of the launch cost $14 (£10.80).

TV host Kevin O'Sullivan invited psychologist and "narcissism expert" Richard Grannon to his TalkTV show to taste test Meghan's jam and compare it to one of King Charles's—either the Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle strawberry preserve, which is priced at £7 and can be bought on the Royal Collection Trust's website.

After tasting As Ever's jam on a cracker, Mr Grannon gave a scathing review, saying it tastes of "entitlement, greed, avarice and deception".

Meanwhile, Mr O'Sullivan said that while it does have a "fruity taste", he didn’t believe it was worth its almost £11 price tag.

He said: "I'll be fair, that's quite a fruity taste. It's not bad at all. It's nothing to write home about. It's not worth fourteen bucks."

The pair later sampled King Charles's jam, which they described as "proper jam".

Last month, another royal commentator was left unimpressed with Meghan's products, saying they were "snobby, salty, superficially sweet".

The Daily Mail's Maureen Callahan, who is US-based and is often critical of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, said that Meghan's latest offering "overpromised and under-delivered".

After her "brief taste test", Ms Callahan blasted the duchess that her products are "outrageously priced" and "inedible".

She claimed Meghan's long-awaited raspberry jam was "sickly sweet" too runny and overpriced for its size.
