I'm a film expert - these are the 5 best films coming to cinemas this June | Films | Entertainment

Looking for your next reason to visit the cinema? Well look no further. This month is set to keep action and horror lovers happy with the third part of Danny Boyles's 28 Years Later trilogy, the return of M3GAN 2.0 and an F1 action film starring Brad Pitt coming to picture houses.

As someone who regularly writes about films and is always on the lookout for the top new releases, these are my top picks for the month of June.

Ballerina (June 6)

Ballerina is the first spin-off film of the John Wick universe, set between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. It stars Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick among others. Armas plays a female assassin trained by the Ruska Roma, which is a criminal organisation and the story looks to be another revenge seeking.

How to Train Your Dragon (June 13)

Director Dean DeBlois, who created the How to Train Your Dragon animated series, brings the live-action reimagining to the screen. Known as a coming-of-age story, this version will focus on Hiccup’s first meeting with Toothless, a friendly dragon he doesn't want to kill, even if tradition tells him otherwise.

28 Years Later (June 20)

Following on from 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to 28 Days Later, one of the best zombie films in the game, 28 Years Later sees the return of its original director Danny Boyle. Boyle also co-wrote the film with Alex Garland and the film's starry line-up includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes.

M3GAN 2.0 (June 27)

The sequel to sci-fi horror M3GAN will hit screens later in the month with plot details heavily still under wraps. The film's producer James Wan alluded that M3GAN 2.0 will pick up from the end of the first film and explore the consequences of what happens when AI robots connect to devices in people's homes. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are confirmed to star as Gemma and Cady again.

F1 (June 27)

This big-hitter from Warner Bros, Apple Original Films and Dawn Apollo Entertainment, led by seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is gearing up to welcome audiences into the world of car racing. The film features a stellar cast including the likes of Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem and Tobias Menzies. With direction from Joseph Kosinski, the film follows the life of Pitt, who plays a former racer convinced to come out of retirement.
