Google Pixel 9 at 'lowest price' in sale amid Android update![]() The Google Pixel 9 has dropped to its ‘lowest price’ ever as the tech giant unveils a major update for Android users. Google is hosting its annual I/O conference in California this week, and is showcasing product launches, innovations and insights. This year, the event provides tech fans with some major updates on the future of Google Gemini and Android software. Google revealed some new features of Android 16, the upcoming version of the software that powers Google smartphones. A key update will change how Pixel phones look and operate with ‘Material 3 Expressive’, which Google says will make using the phones more fluid and personal with ‘springy animations’ and customisable dynamic colour themes. Android 16 is expected to be rolled out to Google Pixel devices in June, and several models have dropped in price just in time for those looking to upgrade. Sky Mobile has launched several offers on the Google Pixel 9 series, saying ‘our lowest price is back’ as the standard Pixel 9 drops to £24. Sky is also throwing in six months of the Google One Premium 2 TB plan and Fitbit Premium, plus three months of YouTube Premium for new eligible customers. The only catch is that to get the deal, customers must commit to a 36-month contract with Sky, and choose a data plan on top, which ranges from £0 for 100MB to £20 for unlimited. There is a cheaper way to bag a Pixel 9, though, as Amazon has just cut it by 30%, reducing it from £799 to £561.96. This works out £302.04 cheaper than Sky over the life of the plan, so it is the most cost-effective option overall. With Sky, other models in the Pixel 9 series include the Pixel 9 Pro at £27 and Pixel 9 Pro XL at £34, with the newest and more affordable Pixel 9a now £18. The latter only launched in April and is already on sale at Amazon for £449, down from £499. Bear in mind though that this won’t include any data usage, but Mobiles.co.uk will give customers 500GB each month on iD Mobile’s £17.99 contract, which works out at £452.76 over the 24-month plan. The Pixel 9a – designed as a more budget-friendly version of the standard Pixel 9. Deputy Tech Editor has reviewed the model and called it the 'best A-series phone yet' and raved about its practical design - which you can read about here. Back to the bigger Pixel 9 and it has a 4.3-star rating from Amazon customers. One satisfied shopper said: “This phone has been virtually flawless. It has a solid construction similar to an iPhone and a clean clutter free OS with no bloatware. "This is a lot of phone for your money, even sporting a 120mhz display. One plus is having both a fingerprint scanner and a Face ID equivalent. It does have a plastic back, but it feels premium, and a lot of phone for the money. Another said: “The perfect size at 6.3” and all the benefits of Pixel in a cheaper package. Great display, bigger battery, good cameras, smooth and responsive.” A third said: “It looks sleek and rather similar to an iPhone, it operates well, the battery life is great, and the camera quality is excellent. It is very good value for money for all that it delivers. I really do love the photo editing tools like ‘Add me’, background removal and the other AI features that iPhones don’t have.” However, this less-impressed customer said: “Battery life [is] good, size is all right but the bezels are quite big. It’s a decent price but one issue is the Bluetooth keeps reconnecting randomly which is frustrating as someone that uses Bluetooth earphones all the time.” Source link Posted: 2025-05-21 14:32:39 |
