Fans vote whether royals should have marked Sussexes's special day | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary yesterday, their fifth one living in the US and whilst being estranged from the Royal Family. The couple, who stepped down from royal duties in early 2020, only celebrated their first wedding anniversary in the UK in 2019 - just days after welcoming their son, Prince Archie.

Since their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been involved in a tense feud with members of the Royal Family - in particular King Charles and Prince William. The King, who is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with his youngest son, typically posts on the Royal Family's official social media accounts to highlight the birthdays of senior family members and wedding anniversaries.

As of today, there has been no mention of Harry and Meghan nor their special day on May 19, 2018, from any members of the Royal Family.

The Royal Family did post on X once on Monday, with a post about Prince Edward's attendance at Pope Leo XIV's Inaugural Mass at the Vatican. on Sunday.

In a poll conducted by the Express yesterday, which ran from 11.45am on May 19 until 12.30pm on May 20, royal fans were asked whether they think the Royal Family should send a public message to the couple in honour of their seven-year wedding anniversary.

Of the 1,688 people who voted, 90 percent [1,529 votes] voted that the family should not mention or mark their anniversary on social media.

In contrast, just eight percent [131 votes] said they should send a congratulations message to the California-based couple - with an additional two percent [28 votes] voting that they don't know what the family should have done.

Taking to the comment section, one fan commented: "Nope, not after the damage she has done to this family", with a fellow commenter adding that the Royal Family should "ignore them".

A third commented: "The [Royal Family] shouldn't wish them Happy anything after all the misery they have caused and continue to cause..."

A fourth added: "No they should not say “Happy Anniversary” when there is no contact and H&M turned their back on Harry’s family and on her own family!..."
