Huyton double stabbing: Chaos as man shot by police | UK | News




A man has been shot by police officers in Merseyside after a horror double stabbing. Emergency services including an air ambulance raced to the scene in  Huyton on Wednesday afternoon, where they found a man and woman injured in the Tobruk road area. Police have now confirmed that the suspect has been taken to hospital after being shot by officers, as neighbours reported hearing a number of gunshots fired. The man and woman that were assaulted have been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition, Merseyside Police said. 

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 4.25pm, we received a report that a man and woman had been stabbed in the Tobruk Road area. Armed response officers attended and the suspect was subsequently shot by police. He has been taken to hospital for treatment. The man and woman assaulted have been taken to hospital where their condition is described as serious but stable.

"An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the road has been cordoned off. Officers remain at the scene and are carrying out house-to-house and CCTV inquiries."
