Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick in latest trailer – Here’s how he’s alive | Films | Entertainment

After four epic movies, John Wick appeared to be dead and buried at the end of Chapter 4.

However, Keanu Reeves returns as his almost invincible assassin in the latest outing from the action-packed franchise.

Fans may be wondering how he and the late actor Lance Reddick’s Charon are back, given that they both perished in the last film (or at least appeared to, given that Reeves has signed on for John Wick 5).

It turns out this new movie is a spin-off called Ballerina, following the dancers who camoed in Chapter 3, under Anjelica Huston’s The Director at Ruska Roma.

The latest film is set during the six-month gap between John Wick's Chapters 3 and 4, so Reeves’ lead and Charon are alive and well.

In the latest trailer, Ana de Armas’ ballerina assassin, Eve Macro, is under protection at the Continental Hotel. But from the new footage, it looks like Wick is hunting her, and it’s not like the hitman ever fails an assignment. Our best bet is he’ll let her live, and John Wick 5 will somehow resurrect his character for a team-up with Ballerina.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina hits cinemas on June 6, 2025.
