Ruben Amorim shows true colours with staff gesture after Europa League final ticket saga | Football | Sport![]() Ruben Amorim has reportedly paid for 30 members of his Manchester United backroom staff to attend the Europa League final with their families. The Red Devils are set to face Tottenham in Bilbao later this month, but not all members of staff will be in attendance for the crucial fixture. The United hierarchy ruled that coaches, physios and support team – as well as their families – would have to pay for their own tickets. In the same light, each player has only been offered two tickets each for their loved ones, and their travel costs will not be covered by the club. However, Amorim appears to have taken issue with the cost-limiting decisions and taken matters into his own hands. According to ESPN, the Portuguese boss has paid for 30 members of staff to take their families to Spain for the final. Amorim wanted to ensure that his staff were recognised for their ‘contribution and commitment’ over the past six months, with his side struggling in the Premier League and currently sitting in 16th place in the table. The ex-Sporting boss wanted to ensure that his support team, as well as low-paid members of staff, were able to attend the crucial clash at the Estadio San Mames and therefore insisted that he would fund those tickets when heard of the original ticketing plan. Amorim was keen to ensure that each member would also be able to take two friends or family to the match as well. United have stressed that their decision was driven by the desire to allow supporters to have the chance to buy as many of their 15,000 allocation as possible. Amorim will be hoping to lead his team to victory when they take to the pitch on May 21, with Champions League football at stake and the opportunity to bow out of a disappointing campaign on a positive note. The 40-year-old is then hoping to orchestrate a major rebuild of his ranks over the summer, with reinforcements being eyed at both ends of the pitch. The Red Devils are already in pole position to acquire the services of Liam Delap from Ipswich, as well as Wolves playmaker Matheus Cunha. Source link Posted: 2025-05-13 22:21:47 |
