Jeremy Clarkson's royal ties have 'deepened' since Meghan Markle criticism | Royal | News

Jeremy Clarkson has grown closer to the Royal Family since his brutal criticism of Meghan Markle in 2022. In a column for The Sun, Jeremy wrote at the time that he hated Meghan, 43, on "a cellular level" and wanted to see the former actress paraded through the streets, naked, while people threw excrement at her.

Following the controversial article, Jeremy sent an apology to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - stating that he was "mortified". However, a spokesperson for Prince Harry condemned "his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny". Despite this episode, members of the Royal Family have made several public appearances with the TV personality, with Jeremy seemingly deepening his royal ties over the past few years. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Prince William was set to appear on the next series of Clarkson's Farm.

William, 42, met some of the stars of the show, including Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, during a visit to Clarkson's Oxfordshire farm - known as Diddly Squat - in March 2025.

Speaking to the stars, William also revealed that his eldest son, 11-year-old Prince George, is a fan of the series.

William told Kaleb: "You've got George watching now. I said to him 'What shall I say if I meet Kaleb? He said 'Tell Kaleb to mind his language'."

William is the second person in Harry's life to become close to Jeremy - with his childhood friend Hugh van Cutsem having also previously appeared on the show.

As well as being close to William, Hugh and his wife Rose Astor invited Meghan and Harry over for supper at their house in West London. The couple were also guests at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding on May 19, 2018.

Jeremy also previously joined Queen Camilla at an exclusive Christmas lunch in December 2022.

In March 2024, he also rubbed shoulders with the likes of Zara Tindall and Princess Eugenie when he joined them for a weekend away in Bahrain to watch the Grand Prix.
