Arsenal player ratings vs PSG: One 2/10 and trio score 3s as Gunners crash out in defeat | Football | Sport

Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals with a 2-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. The Gunners trailed 1-0 after the first leg at the Emirates Stadium and were beaten again in France through goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi.

A 76th-minute Bukayo Saka finish was solely a consolation as the curtains closed on another season for Mikel Arteta's side.

Express Sport runs through the Arsenal player ratings on a disappointing night at the Parc des Princes...

Arsenal player ratings vs PSG

David Raya: 8

Had no chance with either PSG strike and kept Arsenal in it with some strong saves. Saved Vitinha's penalty.

Jurrien Timber: 6

Created two chances but was pinned back by the hosts' menacing wingers for most of the evening.

William Saliba: 4

Surrendered the ball sloppily but, unlike against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, went unpunished. Lost more than half of his duels against an attack that seems unstoppable.

Jakub Kiwior: 6

On the flip side to his defensive partner, he won all but one of his individual battles but it'd be a lie to say Arsenal didn't miss Gabriel Magalhaes.

Myles Lewis-Skelly: 2

The youngest-ever Englishman to start in both legs of a Champions League semi-final. However, his inexperience showed in Paris. A defensive liability and, perhaps harshly, conceded the penalty that Vitinha missed.

Thomas Partey: 3

His relentless long throws made it feel like Stoke City had voyaged into the final four of Europe's premier competition at points. Kept things ticking in midfield but lost the ball in an inexcusable position when Hakimi ended the tie.

Declan Rice: 4

A far cry from his heroics to conquer Real Madrid. His best action of the night was a bursting cross-pitch run to prevent Bradley Barcola from doubling PSG's lead instantly after Ruiz's opener. Could have made it 1-0 early on.

Martin Odegaard: 4

He goes missing in these crunch games far too often. Stung Gianluigi Donnarumma's palm with an early long-range effort. A shot so hard my own wrist tingled. Otherwise not good enough.

Bukayo Saka: 7

The only Arsenal player who looked like he belonged on this stage. Fired off six shots, drew three fouls, completed two take-ons, created two chances and offered hope with his goal. We won't mention the sitter he missed moments later...

Gabriel Martinelli: 3

Invisible. Arteta desperately needs to improve his attacking depth if he is to transfer the progress he has made into silverware. Not near the level required.

Mikel Merino: 3

He's come up with some big moments as a makeshift striker, but Arsenal's attack paled in comparison to PSG's brilliance.

Substitutes

Riccardo Calafiori: 4

Got booked.

Leandro Trossard: 5

Never looked like changing the game.

Ben White: 5

A late introduction.
