Mould in shower will vanish using 3 simple ingredients

Bathrooms are often magnets for mould, with the damp environment making it an ideal breeding ground for the spores to appear, especially black mould, which can be particularly difficult to get rid of.

Preventing mould from growing in corners of the bathroom can be tough with limited ventilation, and lots of bathrooms often have smaller windows than elsewhere in the house, or none at all. Depending on the severity of the mould, it can also lead to a number of health issues, from rashes to a runny nose and even trigger asthma attacks, and simply taking a daily shower can create excess moisture which mould thrives in. Grout is often a prime target for mould, as it accumulates soap, skin cells and moisture from showers that mould feeds on.

There are plenty of products out there on the market that promise to banish mould from bathrooms and grout, but it’s just as easy to make your own solution at home.

If you notice that your bathroom grout has a build up of mould, a cleaning expert has shared an easy mix you can make at home to effectively banish any mould from the grout.

In a post shared to Instagram, the cleaning expert Julia Hunt revealed the DIY mixture she uses to get rid of mould from her bathroom, showing how she transformed the blackened grout around her tiles into a shade of sparkling white in just 15 minutes.

Using a few simple ingredients, Julia also adds hydrogen peroxide to her mould-busting solution, which is often used as a bleaching agent and an inexpensive multipurpose disinfectant.

To get rid of mould, Julia mixes two cups of baking soda with a cup of hydrogen peroxide and adds 20 drops of lemon essential oil. Lemon is often used for cleaning, as its acidity can help to break down mould spores.

After mixing this together in a bowl, Julia applies a thin layer to her bathroom grout and leaves it to work for 15 minutes. Afterwards, scrub the mix away and wipe clean to reveal white grout that’s free from mould.
