Oscar Piastri fended off the charging Lando Norris to extend his championship lead at the Miami Grand Prix. George Russell rounded out the podium, while Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were both left frustrated as tensions boiled over. Verstappen and Norris wasted no time in their fight as the two title contenders went wheel-to-wheel into the opening corner. Norris lost out on this particular occasion with the Red Bull driver shoving his rival wide.

The Brit lost four positions as a result of Verstappen’s fierce defensive driving, but he quickly moved past the Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and Russell. Further ahead, Piastri was hounding the race leader, and eventually got past by forcing the Dutchman deep on the brakes at Turn One, where he locked up and lost out.

Norris made his way by a handful of laps later after several bites of the overtaking apple, but not before he was forced to hand the position back to Verstappen after passing him outside of the white lines at Turn 11. By the time he was unleashed, his team-mate was over nine seconds ahead at the head of the field.

When Antonelli attempted to trigger an undercut, Verstappen covered him off, but mere laps later, the VSC was called out after Oliver Bearman suffered a power unit issue. This benefited Russell, who jumped the Red Bull driver on the exit of the pit lane after taking advantage of a cheap stop.

Meanwhile, at Ferrari, tensions boiled over as Hamilton voiced his frustrations with his team’s decision-making. The Italian constructor struggled to make sense of their own tactical decisions as Charles Leclerc hunted down Antonelli ahead. Out at the front, nobody had an answer for Piastri, who scored his third consecutive Grand Prix victory.
