Forget Spotify - the cassette player is back and way better than you remember

We've already seen vinyl making a major comeback with a bunch of tech firms now offering high-tech turntables. Now it seems cassettes could be about to boom as well. Anyone who lived through the 80s and 90s will have plenty of nostalgic memories of playing so-called tapes in cars, home stereos and portable players.

Despite, these music makers becoming obsolete after the launch of CDs and then streaming services it seems they aren’t gone for good.

In fact, there's a totally new way to play any old cassettes you may in the loft and it's way better than you might remember.

The team at We Are Rewind have just announced the launch of its new EDITH WE-001 cassette player which adds plenty of modern twists to this ageing technology.

This new music player gets full Bluetooth connectivity so you can link up those wireless headphones you now own or beam those classic tunes to portable speakers.

Physical buttons let you play and rewind, plus there's even the option to record things as well.

A premium design with Aluminium casing is included rather than old style plastic and the firm is promising decent battery life for those long journeys.

Another bonus is that the EDITH WE-001 doesn't rely on annoying AA batteries with it featuring a fully rechargeable power pack instead.

"In an age where digital streaming dominates, We Are Rewind introduces their latest blend of nostalgia and innovation with the EDITH WE-001 cassette player. This deck pays homage to the classic era of mixtapes while adding new features, offering a unique musical experience for tape fans and newcomers alike."

EDITH is out now and costs  £129. We Are Rewind products can be picked up shops including at Rough Trade, Selfridges, FNAC, Turntable Lab and many independent record stores.
