Liverpool boss Arne Slot shared the exact text message that Jurgen Klopp sent him after winning the Premier League. Celebrations were kick-started with the Reds' 5-1 victory over Tottenham and their former head coach was over the moon about their success, despite leaving the previous year.

Slot was speaking publicly for the first time since securing the title in his first season in England. He lavished praise on Klopp during the Anfield scenes last Sunday, thanking him for leaving such a talented squad that was able to fend off Arsenal at the top of the table.

Slot sang Klopp's name to the same tune that the previous coach did to give the Dutchman his public blessing during an emotional Anfield farewell 12 months ago.

Picking up where the now-Red Bull chief left off, Slot revealed the exact message Klopp said in his pre-match press conference: "Most famous person who messaged me? I assume it was Jurgen! What did he say? Congratulations, now I know what a special club it is, I am part of history, this type of stuff, he was really happy for fans and the club."

Shortly after the Reds' 20th league title was secured, Klopp congratulated them on social media, writing on Instagram: "Super grateful for the past, super super happy about the present, extremely positive about the future. Congratulations -- YNWA [You'll never walk alone]. Thank you Luv."

Moments after the final whistle was blown, Slot paid tribute to the man who largely built his Liverpool squad. "It feels great, I don't think I want to say a lot, the only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp," he told LFCTV.

"So many moments in the season the two of us have had contact. I think he showed last season what a wonderful human being he is by introducing me. But what mattered most is the team he left behind that was able to win the trophy."

Liverpool did not lift the title after beating Spurs and instead will do so on the final day of the season against Crystal Palace, with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton to come first.

Ahead of Liverpool's trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Slot relished the prospect of facing teams in the top half of the table and fighting for something in their remaining four matches.

"It's nice we play some strong teams with Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Palace, it gives us a challenge," he explained. "We have to look at this as the start of next season.

"Chelsea away first, I am surprised, not shocked, but look at the gap we have with them because when we played them they were the better team and we found a way to win. We had to suffer more than any other game maybe, so to be so clear of them is a big compliment to everyone."
